I'm also annoyed because feministblogs.org is a good way to be sure I'm the first kid on the block to hear any feminism-related news without having to check and recheck 10 different blogs.  I suppose if this goes unremedied I will have to bookmark the actual addresses of the blogs there that I want to keep reading and join the girlcott.

You can use an RSS feed reader to compile posts in that manner. I use Google Reader to compile my favorites, but I know there's a few more out there. You can put any number of blogs/feeds up, divide them into categories (I've divided mine into feminist and social issue blogs, one for job hunting feeds, and one for food blogs. I can view them all together, separately by category or by individual blog/feed.). Seems to be that that's what feministblogs.org is doing - running a feed of a number of different blogs that identify as feminist... So wouldn't be surprised that there isn't really anyone behind the operation beyond it having been setup.

I can't wrap my head around how men feel so victimized by women.

They literally do not want equality. To most divorced men, just the fact that "their" woman was able to escape feels like a violation of their godbag-given rights.

After reading his blathering about book burning and starting a war, I can't help but wonder how women got the reputation for being drama queens.

Oh my goodness!! I was watching PBS's Frontline about the Iraq war, and they outline all the backstabbing, power plays and conflicts going on in the Bush administration during the lead-up to it.... The whole time, I was wondering the same thing. (But hey, none of that stuff is drama... it's like...  Machiavelli's The Prince! Too tired to think up all the positive man coded adjectives that would entail the flip side of the drama queen.)

What we need to realize, is that simple arguments do not progress our cause. What we need is a plan. I’ve postulated one on some other websites, but I have attained more...enlightenment...since then.

I am of the asserted belief that men need a code. Our code has beebn stripped from us by the likes of "L," assorted female cronies, and sycophantic men sympathetic to their misguided cause. We need a new code. A code which espouses total non-cooperation with the likes of "L".

We will no longer even acknowledge their existence in the real world, beyond playing up their "devil male" stereotype, if only to make them uncomfortable. We will purchase their books, if only to burn them, thus inhibiting their indocrinization of others. We will not listen when they speak. We will show up in droves to their rallies with megaphones, and drown them out. We will sneer at them when we see them. We will do anything and everything short of violating the law. They can shout, but we can shout LOUDER.

The new code is coming. The new way is coming. The warrior does not heasr the council of his enemies. He destroys his enemies. The war shall be fought in the media and online. The war, and it IS WAR, has f inally begun. This is a declaration of war.

-[Asshat MRA]

Does it make me a bad feminist that I found this hilarious? I mean, it's so ridiculous. Lonely random guy not involved in discussion or blog shows up however-long later and is suddenly declaring war? That must be some gorram code where he can assemble and entire ARMY without anyone knowing a thing about it!

And the cleverness of his bullhorn/shouting LOUDER scheme...! Why didn't they just try that when MLK Jr marched? ("They" being the racist dickwads, of course, halting progress towards equality.) Why aren't we doing it at every appearance Bush makes? Why didn't anyone think of this when Hitler was spreading hate speech? It's genius!! The rest of his plan--behaving exactly as we expect him and other men to all along based on historical precedent--well, who would've seen that one coming?!

Edited first to fix messed up tags.

Edited second to say, and refers to himself as "the warrior"! It's just fucking classic, everything about it.

zombie, I actually laughed out loud when I read it -- and the comment on my blog, and the entire goshforsaken post he wrote about me -- so, no, I don't think it makes you a bad feminist. :)

The whole thing is just so ridiculously overblown!  I can't believe how seriously this dude takes himself!  I really can't be bothered to listen to anything he says for any purpose beyond mocking him incessantly.  I usually get kind of flustered and obsessive about this stuff, but I couldn't even sludge through his rebuttal, it was so exaggerated and melodramatic.

And, yes, the whole "I'm louder therefore I win and I'm better than you!!" approach is totally overlooked and underestimated as legitimate protesting.  I just can't believe that this dude is the first to come up with it, millennia into the existence of human life and society. *rolls eyes*

This guy's hilarious.  Book burning!  Wow, he sure is clever!  To think, the Nazis might not have been defeated if they had only thought to burn books containing ideas they didn't like!  It wasn't very smart of him to post his brilliant plan in the internetz, though, because now we know his strategy and we could co-opt it and burn HIS books!  We could just thrown them on top of our existing pyre of burning bras!  PWNED!

So, here's that MRA Asshat's comment series on my blog:

The counter [revolution] begins...um...wait...now. Yes, now. Now is the time it begins. Sorry, I just had to make sure my arsenal was at the ready. And...yes...it is. Very good.

So tell me, little piggies, are you ready to do battle with the Boogeyman?

:)

Edited by author to remove hyperlinks and to correct spelling on behalf of this oh-so-frightening "boogeyman". You’re not getting any free hits from me, my friend.

P.S.: careful who you’re calling a friend. I’ve got a rep to maintain, and I can’t be seen consorting with girly types like you and your cooty-ridden cohorts.

Not interested, thanks.

This is, like, a new and different form of MRA bullshit.  It's not so ridiculously mean and condescending, at least not in these comments.  The PS in his second comment?  It sounds vaguely as if he's flirting with me!  WTF??!

Is the world coming to an end?
