Hellonhairylegs, ditto what plainjane said. High school is a pain.

Winter Jaye, I'd say that's a feminist act (and I might say it's a mitzvah if I knew what that was). Way to turn the damsel in distress stereotype around.

A mitzvah is a good deed.

I had a consultation with a totally KICK ASS female tattoo artist and set up an appointment to get some [more] ink.

I'm really excited because I really had my heart set on finding a female artist to support in an industry mostly dominated by men and the "good ol' boys" (though what industry isn't?), and she is really awesome and I feel really confident that she understood exactly what I wanted and therefore do not feel bad for giving her nearly a month's worth of cash to put pretty pictures on my arm. Unfortunately, she's so rad that she's booked until the end of August, so I have to wait until then to actually get the ink. Excited!

Oh, and last night I bought some clippers and got rid of the rest of my hair and it looks totally awesome and I feel fucking liberated. Every step that I take to separate myself from beauty culture and traditional feminine bullshit and men/the patriarchy in general makes me feel so wonderful and strong and PROUD.

Yay supporting women-owned businesses! Also congrats on the tattoo appointment!

There's a woman-owned tattoo shop in Waikiki. There are about 50 tattoo shops in Waikiki (do a lot of people get tattooed on vacation?) but this one looks especially awesome. I was planning to get a tattoo there but now I'm thinking I probably shouldn't get a tattoo at all, based on how long my piercings have taken to heal. My nose took almost a year, my earlobes have taken about 4 months and counting. My mom said my first earlobe piercings when I was 5 took a while to heal, too.

Unfortunately she doesn't OWN the shop, but I think the gentleman that does is gay, so I feel that I am doubly supporting the people that don't get enough recognition.

Also, I have three tattoos that I have had relatively no problems healing. I got a cartiledge piercing a few months ago that has been fairly hellish and is still causing problems. What I'm saying is I'm not convinced that there is any correlation between healing difficulties of piercings and tattoos.

Yes, people love to get (horrible) tattoos on vacation while drunk. Yuck.

Which shop jenna?  Because if it's the one that Leilani works at, it's an awesome shop, and I strongly reccommend her as an artist.

Also, tattoos are more of an overall scabbing process, healing-wise, whereas piercings rely on your body's ability to distinguish between the parts that should not close up and the parts that should, which is why the healing process is more complicated.  A piercing scab is being constantly reopened when you twist the ring to maintain the hole.  If you take care of your tattoo scab properly, it never reopens and thus will heal faster an more tidily.

On Thursday I worked the door at the club my friend manages. The money box is covered in marker drawings and doodles of various things, some cool and some gross. I spent some time before people started coming in covering up a crude sketch, of a woman's face with a dick in her mouth, with a nice drawing of some mushrooms and grass.
